Donald L. Bosma's Obituary
Mr. Donald L. Bosma, age 84, died Christmas Day, December 25, 2012 at the Poppen Residence following a brief stay. Don was born July 28, 1928 in Muskegon to Jacob and Agnes (Bos) Bosma; and had been a life resident of the area. He was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Army and graduated from the Commercial Trades Institute of Chicago following his discharge. He attended Calvary Memorial Church. Don “loved to work” and was a former co-owner of Bosma Brothers Celery Farms; and was the current owner of Bosma Fabricating. One of his fun projects was manufacturing the ice fishing shanty known as the Luma-Tent for ten-years. Don was also a 32 year authorized Wells Cargo Trailer dealer. He enjoyed many outdoor activities including watching his grandchildren play in the Reeths-Puffer Summer Baseball program where he sponsored many teams for close to 20 years. Don married the former Marie Young on February 16, 1957; and she survives him along with 2 children, Kenneth (Barbara) Bosma and Patricia (Jim Wisneski) Harpster of Muskegon; 9 grandchildren, Matt (Amy), Beth (Chris), Dan, Josh (Kerrin), Rachel (Cory), Andrew, Christopher (Josie), Lorraine (Nate) and Andrea (Joel); 7 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Vernamae (Bob) Loper of Muskegon and 2 sisters-in-law, Faye and Elma Bosma, of Muskegon. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Karen Darlene in 1981; and by 4 brothers, Albert, Richard, Jack and Willard and 2 sisters, Celia and Marva. SERVICES will be 11:00 AM Saturday, December 29, 2012 at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 737 Apple Avenue, Muskegon, MI 49442, (231-726-5210) with Pastor Rob Henderson officiating. Interment will be in East Dalton Oakhill Cemetery. VISITATION with Don’s Family will be 4-7PM Friday and one-hour prior to the service on Saturday.
