Donald E. Carlston's Obituary
Donald E. Carlston, age 86, passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2025. He was born June 9, 1938 in Muskegon, MI to Elwood and Lena (Schillaci) Carlston and was a lifelong resident.
After being discharged from the Army, Don became an accomplished real estate agent for over 40 years working with Clyde Hendricks and Greenridge realty companies. He loved mentoring new agents and seemed to know just about everyone in town. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. After retiring, he became a very active member of the KoC and was very proud of the improvements and growth he helped nurture there. In his free time, he loved to cook and bake; known for his famous baked beans, delicious Italian meals and pies. He loved helping with the perch fry and onion ring dinners with his brother, Leroy a.k.a Dr. Perch and going to the casino with his sister, Darlene. In his later years, he considered himself lucky to have reconnected with the late Linda Kelly and they enjoyed taking trips around MI and attending Muskegon Catholic football together.
SURVIVORS include his children, Branden Carlston, Shannon (Brendan) Joyce; sister, Darlene Bell; former wife, Georgia Flak and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Lois Yob and JoAnn Firlit; and brothers, Leroy Carlston and Jack Carlston.
A celebration of life will be held at the Knights of Columbus on Sunday, March 2nd from 1-4 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Muskegon Knights of Columbus Building Association, 2915 Fairfield St, Norton Shores, MI 49441.
