Donald Blanchard Davis' Obituary
Mr. Donald B. Davis, age 87, passed away Saturday, September 27, 2014. He was born in Muskegon on November 5, 1926 to the late Frank and Florence (Balgoyen) Davis. Don served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII. He was employed as a Purchasing Agent for Kaydon Corp. for 23 years until his retirement in 1989. As a young man, Don loved to spend time at the family farm in Allegan, MI. He was a skilled builder and constructed his cottage on Platte Lake. He was a member of McGraft Congregational Church. On May 12, 1947, he married the former Ursula Cornelius in Michigan City, IN. She survives him along with their children: Marilyn (Rick) Werschem of Fruitport, Randall (Becky) Davis of Twin Lake, Ingrid Davis of East Lansing and Shirley (Rex) Conroy of Coopersville; 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. The FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 2, 2014 at the Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI, with Pastor Mark Nieuwsma officiating. VISITATION will be one hour prior to the service. He will be laid to rest in Pine Hill Cemetery in Fruitport with military honors performed by the Muskegon County Council of Veterans of Foreign Wars.
