Donald Dale Hackenberg's Obituary
Mr. Donald Dale Hackenberg, age 87, passed away on May 18, 2014 in Muskegon.
Donald was born on June 5, 1926 in Marcellus, Michigan to the late August and Clara (Timm) Hackenberg. Don married his loving wife, the former Betty L. Davis, on February 20, 1946. They were married 53 years and had 3 children. Don served his country during WWII, advancing to the rank of sergeant while driving an army tank. Donald was a skilled painter with a brush or a spray gun and worked for West Michigan Painting until retirement. In his younger years he enjoyed snowmobiling and deer hunting with his brothers-in-law, Jack Davis and Dick Davis. In later years, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and traveling in his motorhome.
SURVIVORS include 1 daughter, Cindi (Dale) Webster of Bay City; 2 sons: Donald (Barbara) Hackenberg, Jr. of Ravenna, and Terry (Amanda) Hackenberg of Grant; 1 brother, Leon (Kathryn) Hackenberg of Three Rivers; 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Betty L. (Davis) Hackenberg, Donald was preceded in death by 1 brother, Owren Hackenberg, and 3 sisters: June Parker, Verna Rudd, and Elnora Blasius.
A private family service will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at the Throop Funeral Home of Ravenna. Burial will be at Sullivan Township Cemetery.
