Donald R. Johns' Obituary
Donald Raymond Johns, age 70, passed away in Muskegon, MI, on April 14, 2024. Don was born in Munising, MI, on March 3, 1954, to Raymond and Minnie (Hyde) Johns. He graduated from Holton High School and went on to serve for six years in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. On October 5, 1973, he married the former Katherine Newbern, and they spent many wonderful years raising a family together until she preceded him in death in 2002. Don was willing to try anything once, and for that reason he had many hobbies. He enjoyed reading, playing video games, rock polishing, crafts, anime, and old John Wayne movies. He was a very generous man and was willing to help whoever he could. Don will be lovingly remembered by his two daughters: Christina (Raymond) Eckert and Rosie (Paul) Gressett; 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; two siblings: Andrew Johns and Barbara (James) Uhl; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Minnie Johns; two siblings: Robert (Ben McGuigan) Johns and Kathy Johns; and one great-grandchild, Ceceleia Moreen. Per Don’s wishes, no public services are being held. Arrangements by The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI, 49444.
