Mr. Donald J. Koehler's Obituary
Donald Joseph Koehler, age 87 passed away Friday December 16, 2022. He was born March 23, 1935, in Grand Rapids the proud and devoted son of Val and Ella (Gokey) Koehler. Don graduated from St. Joseph High School, Muskegon. He participated in many activities, but basketball was his game. He was a proud member of the 1953 Class D state championship basketball team. Don went on to attend Normal college, Ypsilanti. On February 14, 1970, he married the former Sharon Watson. Don was employed by Howmet Corporation, Virginia until his retirement in 1997. He later returned to consult for an additional 10 years. Don is a member of St. Francis Catholic Church and served as a Eucharistic Minister at Trinity Health Hospital. Survivors include his wife Sharon, son Daniel (Linda) James, grandsons Matthew and David, brother James and two sisters Karalyn and Jacqueline, many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Irene Kuznar and In-laws Earl and Virginia Watson. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, December 22, at 11:00 AM at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. Entombment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery Mausoleum. There will not be any visitation before the Mass. The family will be having a luncheon, visitation, and sharing in Shepherd’s Hall following the Mass, and you are welcome to join them for that.
