Donald L. Liefer's Obituary
Mr. Donald L. Liefer, age 83, passed away on May 6, 2014 at the Poppen Residence. He was born on July 9, 1930 to Bernard and Myrtle (Goranson) Liefer in Grand Rapids. Mr. Liefer served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a former member of Olivet Reformed Church. Prior to his retirement in 1986 he worked as an accountant for GTE in Muskegon. Don was an avid golfer, enjoyed bowling and was a Detroit Tigers fan. Most importantly, he enjoyed and loved being with his family. On July 29, 1961 he married Lorraine Alice Johnson and she preceded him in death on July 16, 1990. SURVIVORS include his children, Marie (Todd) Frantz and Donald Liefer; grandchildren, Brooke (Robert) Lukofsky and Christopher Glen Todd Frantz; one great-grandson, Chaz Wesley Steven Frantz and baby boy Lukofsky on the way; sister, Marilyn (Al) Engstrom; two sister-in-laws, Shirley Liefer and Karen Liefer; brother-in-law, Leonard Johnson; along with several nieces and nephews. Don was also preceded in death by his brothers, Ken Liefer and William Liefer. FUNERAL SERVICES and MILITARY RITES will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at The Lee Chapel 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100 with Pastor John H. Brown officiating. VISITATION with the family will be one hour prior at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Norton Cemetery. MEMORIALS to Harbor Hospice – Poppen Residence would be appreciated.
