Donald Miller's Obituary
Mr. Donald Miller, age 78, of Spring Lake passed away Sunday, December 2, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 29, 1940 in Detroit to Charles Edwin and Ernestine (Ling) Miller.
Don was a member of Ferrysburg Community Church. He worked as a Junior High School teacher at Spring Lake Public Schools for thirty years, where he taught physical education and health. Don also taught driver’s education for twenty-five years, coached golf, and Junior High football. He served as Spring Lake Township Clerk for eight years. His other interests were golfing, fishing, camping, and making other people laugh.
On February 2, 1963, he married the former Janice Vanderlinde in Spring Lake. She preceded him in death on June 20, 2015 after 52 years of marriage. SURVIVORS include his three children and 10 grandchildren: David (Karen) Miller and their children, Nicholas, Jacob, and Jonathan; James (Dana) Miller and their children, Madison, Lydia and Emma; Dianna (Carl) Hordyk and their children, Rachel, Ryon, Jordan, and Rebecca; sister, Susan (Roger) Anderson; and brother, Charles “Skeets” (Nancy) Miller.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 7, 2018, at Ferrysburg Community Church (17785 Mohawk Drive Spring Lake, MI 49456) with Pastor Nate Visker officiating. Visitation for Donald will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, December 6, also at Ferrysburg Community Church, and 1 hour prior to the funeral on Friday. Burial will take place at Spring Lake Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions in memory of Don to Ferrysburg Community Church or Hospice of North Ottawa will be appreciated.
