In the summer of 1960, after Don and I graduated from CMU, we headed west in a beater 1951 Chevy. It broke down in Denver and we repaired it. Continuing on we worked the night shift in a mine in Leadville, Co. for a few days. We moved on to Elko NV where we worked on a ranch in Ruby Valley for 3 weeks. We eventually made it to SF and LA where we visited Fraternity brothers. After a long drive on Route 66 we arrived back in MI in late August. We then went our separate ways. I into the Navy and Don to marriage with Pat and Graduate School. We eventually both ended up in Muskegon. Don was a significant person in my life and will be missed. Jerry Bakke
