Donald Maynard Pimley's Obituary
Donald Maynard Pimley, age 90, passed away on August 10, 2025, in Muskegon, Michigan. Don was born to John and Louise (Mitchell) Pimley on April 1, 1935, in San Francisco, California. Don attended the University of California, Berkeley, where he received his bachelor’s degree in finance. After college, Don served in the United States Army for two years. Don made a career as a Commercial Lender at National City Bank. Upon his retirement in 1998, Don was a Senior Vice President of the bank. On January 3, 1975, Don married his soulmate, Pat, in Muskegon, Michigan. Together, they enjoyed fifty happy years of marriage. After their retirement, Don and Pat spent 25 years vacationing for two months each year in Fort Myers, Florida.
Don was an avid golfer and tennis player. At age 15, Don won a national tennis championship, and throughout his life, won many more tournaments. Don served as the former president of the Muskegon Country Club and the former president of the Seaway Festival. He was also a Rotarian for many years. Don and Pat were longtime members of First Congregational Church of Muskegon, Michigan, where Don served on the finance committee, helped manage endowments, and served as an usher.
Don is lovingly remembered by his wife, Pat Pimley; daughters, Anne (Douglas) Hess of West Hartford, Connecticut., and Venetia (Maarten deBoer) Pimley of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Kaley Hess of Dorchester, Massachusetts, Claudia Hess of West Hartford, Connecticut, and Willem deBoer of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; sisters-in-law, Emilie Jenkins of Fort Mohave, Arizona, and Barb Peterman; brother-in-law, Leroy VanderStelt; nieces and nephews, Carrie Vanderstelt, Lee VanderStelt Jr., David (Diana) VanderStelt, Christy (Scott) Noordhoek, Todd Peterman, and Jamie Peterman. Don is preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, Rowan deBoer; his brother, John Pimley; and his brother-in-law, Norm Peterman.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Heartwood Lodge for their excellent care over the last nine months.
No services are planned for Don at this time. Memorial contributions in Don's honor may be made to First Congregational Church of Muskegon, Michigan.
