RAHN, MR. DONALD R.
Norton Shores, MI
Mr. Donald Rhinard Rahn, age 88, died Tuesday morning, January 5, 2016, at Mercy Hospital. He was born March 17, 1927 in Muskegon to Robert and Esther Marie (Yarrington) Rahn; and had been a life resident of the area. Don was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II and was a member of American Legion Post 225. He was also a member of First Congregational Church, where he volunteered helping maintain the church and its grounds. Don had been employed 17 years at the former Old Dutch Refinery, which became Aurora Refinery and then Marathon Refinery before closing. He then worked in the Storeroom for Consumer’s Power Co. for 25 years, prior to his retirement. He enjoyed gardening, watching and attending baseball and football games, especially the University of Michigan football games for 34 years as a season ticket holder. On July 29, 1949 he married the former Beverly J. Redden and she survives him along with 3 children, Donald Robert Rahn of Muskegon, Janet (Jim) Salazar of Albuquerque, NM and David (Diana) Rahn of Tucson, AZ; 2 grandchildren, Christopher Rahn and Alexandria Salazar; 1 brother, Frank (Jacquelyn) Rahn of Muskegon; and 1 sister-in-law, Shirley Rahn of Muskegon. Don was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Robert, William, Raymond and George Rahn; and by 2 sisters, Mary Town and Lillian Janoviak. A MEMORIAL SERVICE for Don will be held 2:00 PM Friday, January 22, 2016 at First Congregational Church, 1201 Jefferson St., Muskegon, MI 49441, with Rev. Dr. Tim VanderHaar officiating..
