Mr. Donald L. Rose's Obituary
Mr. Donald L. Rose, 82, passed away Monday afternoon, October 24, 2016 in Muskegon. He was born February 19, 1934 to Charles and Lillian (Lytle) Rose in Traverse City, and lived most of his life in the Muskegon area. Don was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict, and toured around the world on the U.S.S. Dortch DD670 Destroyer. He worked as a security guard for Pinkerton before retiring, and received the Service Hero Officer award in 2001. Don enjoyed golfing and bowling, but most of all he enjoyed time with his family. He was married to Arlene Domont, who preceded him in death in 1990. He later married Thelma Nelund, who preceded him in death in 2012. SURVIVORS include 3 children, Sandy (Mike) Wernstrom, Mary (Chuck) Gifford, and Adam Rose, all of Muskegon; 4 grandchildren, Mike, Tom, Nolan and Allison; 1 great-grandchild, Averie; 3 sisters, Maxine (Jim) Youmans, Betty Herman and Elnor LaPeer. Don was also preceded in death by his parents and his brother Clifford. A private family service will be held, with burial taking place at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
