Donald E. VanDyke's Obituary
Donald E. VanDyke, age 82, of Ellenton, Florida, passed away on October 15, 2017 after losing his battle with Cancer.
Don was born in Muskegon on August 4, 1935 and lived there for many years where he was blessed with three beautiful daughters. Karri Fisher (Pat) of Grand Haven; Kathy Cutter (Chris) of Fruitport; Kris Reeds (Craig) of Muskegon. He also had 8 wonderful grandchildren; Daniel Fisher; Dustin (Grace) Fisher; Donald Fisher; Amanda (Nathan) Struble; Nicole (Weijun) Li); Erin Cutter; Riley Reeds; Payton Reeds; and 3 great- grandchildren.
Don worked as an accountant in the automotive industry. After retiring he took a job as a courier for Spectrum Health picking up and delivering lab specimens, which he truly loved.
His favorite hobby was singing and he sang in several barbershop quartets over the years. In his day, he had a wonderful voice and entertained audiences both in Michigan and Florida.
Don is survived by his wife of 34 years, Marge (Faunce), his daughters and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dirk and Grace VanDyke; his sister, Virginia (Art) Thompson; and a brother, Dick (Pat) VanDyke
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 14, 2018, at Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services – The VanZantwick Chapel with Rev. John Brown officiating. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be given to Tidewell Hospice 3355 28th Street West, Bradenton, Florida 34205.
