Donald J. Yadlosky's Obituary
On Friday, April 19, 2024, Donald Joseph Yadlosky, age 95, passed away in Muskegon, MI, following a long-term illness. Donald was born on September 7, 1928, in Redford, Michigan, to Mitchell and Grace (Lynch) Yadlosky. On February 25, 1950, he married the former Catherine Leever, and they spent 73 wonderful years together until she preceded him in death in 2023. Donald briefly served in the U.S. Navy and then went on to work for Michigan Consolidated Gas Company (DTE) and was a faithful employee from 1952 until his retirement in 1983. He enjoyed wintering in Florida and Arizona over the years, and in the summers the whole family enjoyed spending time at their home on Lincoln Lake in Gowan, Michigan. The home on Lincoln Lake was very special to all of them, and many cherished memories were made there before they moved into the city. Don was a loving husband and father. He was a talented woodworker and showed his love to family by making them handmade gifts, whether it was a small craft or a piece of furniture that they needed. When his illness limited his ability to woodwork, he was still able to show love for his great-grandchildren by building them gifts with Legos. He greatly enjoyed golfing and bowling. While he was talented at both, golfing was his favorite. It was a hobby he loved to do with both of his sons, and he won various trophies to prove it. He golfed and bowled weekly until he was no longer able to, at which point he started watching it from home. Don greatly enjoyed traveling, and always made a point to visit the relatives that lived near the places where they were staying. He loved to keep busy, whether it was doing yardwork, cooking, or fixing things around the house, even up to his early 90’s.
Donald will be lovingly remembered by his children: Donna (Craig) Nelson, Chris Clor, and Jim (Mari) Yadlosky; 9 grandchildren: Jason (Leah) Monette, Lyndsey (Brandon) Machinski, Veronica (Bryan) Copenhaver, Erika (Bryan) Vanhaitsma, Calli Clor, Jenna Nelson, Mitchell (Gabrielle) Yadlosky, Nick Yadlosky, and Lauren (Nick) Kalinowski; and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Yadlosky; son, Donald Scott Yadlosky; and an infant daughter. A MEMORIAL SERVICE officiated by Pastor Steve Monette will be held for Donald at 2:00 PM on Friday, May 17, 2024, at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI, 49444.
