Donald E. Karchinski's Obituary
Mr. Donald Eugene Karchinski, age 78, passed away Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at his home. Mr. Karchinski was born January 12, 1932 to Dominic and Helen (Cole) Karchinski in Muskegon. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Don was the owner of Cole’s Sunoco Service Station for 50 years and was a member of VFW Post #7729. He loved to hunt and fish and was a diehard fan of the Detroit Lions and Tigers. He will always be remembered for helping his friends through his random acts of kindness. SURVIVORS include his wife, Shirley; 4 children, Bob Karchinski, Chris (Tonya) Karchinski and Kim (Mike) Hanson all of Muskegon, and Kerri (Mike) Loney of Commerce, MI; 13 grandchildren, Justin (Louann), Bob Jr. (Stacey), Steve (Becca), Kyle, Nick, CeJay & Casey Karchinski, Tyler, Taylor & Tanner Hanson, Mitch, Madison & Megan Loney; 7 great-grandchildren; and many cousins. Don is preceded in death by his son, Steve; his parents; and his in-laws, Jack & Ruth Warren. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, September 24, 2010 at Fellowship Reformed Church with Rev. Greg VanderMeer officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Mercy VNS Hospice.
