Donald E. Monroe's Obituary
Our dear husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Donald Earl Monroe, went home to be with his Heavenly Father, Wednesday morning, June 30, 2010 after having lived a long fulfilled life in Muskegon. He was born in Lake Ann, MI on February 28, 1923 to Earl and Cecil (Hoffman) Monroe. He married Betty and had two daughters, married June and had three sons, married Ruth with three step-daughters. Don is survived by his wife June and his five children. Daughters, Sandra (Wade) Fisher, Carol (Dave) Anderson; sons, Greg, Don (Sue) Monroe all of Muskegon, David of California; step-son, Rick (Sandy) Riggle of California; 9 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; brother, Robert of Grand Rapids, two sisters, Ella Daubar of Ohio, Dorothy (Oakley) Counter of Centerville; Larry Diebler and many other special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and two brothers. After working for Muskegon Piston Ring for 19 years, he started Monroe’s Custom Campers in 1969 and retired in 1996. Mr. Monroe was also an active member of Evanston Ave. Baptist Church. There will be VISITATION with the family from 6-8 PM Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at The Sytsema Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Ave. (231) 726-5210 and one hour prior to the service at the church. The MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at Evanston Ave. Baptist Church with Pastor Donald Wolf and Pastor Al Engstrom officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Mercy VNS and Hospice Services or the Evanston Ave. Baptist Church Memorial Fund in Don’s name.
