Donald Eugene King's Obituary
Mr. Donald Eugene King, age 80, passed away suddenly on Thursday, February 19, 2009. He was born in Hart, MI on September 27, 1928 to Robert and Pauline (Swihart) King. Donald served his country in the Korean War as a master sergeant in the U.S. Army. He retired from Muskegon Public Schools and was a member of St. Jean Baptiste Catholic Church, the Vikings Lodge, Tatra Hall, and The Eagles as a Golden member. Don lived life to the fullest for his family. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 56 years, Elsie; his children, Margaret Clinkenbeard, Kathleen Dye, Cynthia (Dean) Sladoje, and Donald A. (Jean) King. He was loved dearly by his grandchildren, Shana, Shaun, Kaleigh, Lauren and Alex and 2 great-grandchildren, Breanna and Jacob. He is also survived by 1 brother, Leon (Dorothy) King; 3 sisters-in-law, Yvonne King, Martha King and Virginia Shaw. Donald was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Pauline King; his in-laws, Theodore and Margaret Larsen; 2 brothers, Walter and Roger King; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Genevieve and Clyde Silvis, Evelyn and Clayton Andresen and George Shaw. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated 1:00 PM Monday, February 23, 2009 at St. Jean Baptiste Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Thomas J. Brown as celebrant. INTERMENT will follow at St. Mary Cemetery with Military Rites offered by the Muskegon County Council of Veterans. VISITATION with Donald’s family will be 4-7 PM Sunday with the Rosary prayed at 4:15 PM at The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 6291 S. Harvey Street, (231) 798-1100. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to Mass, 12-1 PM Monday at church.
