Donald "Glee" Heinbaugh's Obituary
Mr. Donald “Glee” Heinbaugh, age 82, died Tuesday, June 14, 2005, at Mercy Hospital. He was born April 29, 1923 in Muskegon to Wayne & Esther Heinbaugh; and had resided in the area most of his life. Prior to his retirement, Don had been employed in the test lab at Muskegon Piston Ring for 40 years. He served under General Patton in the U.S. Army during WW II, was a member of the “Trench Rats”; and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was also the “Service Officer” of D.A.V. Chapter 11, a life-member of V.F.W. #446, a member of the Masonic Lodge #140 F. and A.M. where he was a 32nd Degree Mason and was a member of the “Monster Garage” group with his buddies. He was preceded in death by is son, Don “Skip” Heinbaugh, in 1985. SURVIVORS include his wife, the former Agnes “Lee” Daszko, whom he married July 24, 1946; 2 sisters, Monell Dahl of Sand Lake, MI and Mildred Sorenson of Seward, AK and by several loving nieces and nephews. SERVICES will be 11 AM Friday at The Walburn Chapel of Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 1547 W. Sherman Blvd., Muskegon, MI 49441 (231-759-8565),with Pastor John H. Brown officiating. Burial & Military Rites will be at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. A Masonic Lodge of Sorrows Service will be held 7:30 PM Thursday with visitation being 2-4 & 6-8PM on Thursday.
