Donald Lester McClary's Obituary
Mr. Donald Lester McClary, age 86, passed away Monday evening, May 23, 2011 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 3, 1924 in Muskegon, MI to Alvie and Easter Lilly (Wilson) McClary and lived in the area his entire life. Don was a veteran of the U.S. Army having achieved the rank of sergeant and served during WWII. He retired as vice president of Hackley Bank & Trust in 1986 after working 42 years. On August 30, 1947, he married the former Lillian R. Peplinski in Cedar, MI and she preceded him in death on August 23, 2006. Don was a member of the Muskegon Elks, Muskegon Eagle’s, VFW Post 3195 and the Polish Falcon Lodge. He was a long-time member of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception in Muskegon. SURVIVORS include his daughter, Michelle (Paul) Garzelloni of Norton Shores; his son, Scott (Kristin) McClary of Florida; 3 grandchildren, Paul (Patty Sarade) Garzelloni II, Lisa (Jake Fischer) Garzelloni, and Lilly (Tommy Woodin) Garzelloni; 1 step-granddaughter, Lauren Klinge; 1 sister, Mary (John) Grambau of Muskegon; and very special friends, Rosemary Sleak and Mary Olive Champion. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and 2 brothers, Kenneth and Edwin McClary. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated 10:00 AM Tuesday, May 31, 2011, at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Matthew J. Barnum as celebrant. INTERMENT will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery. VISITATION will be held 5-8 PM Monday at The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St. (231) 798-1100. The Rosary will be prayed at 5:30 PM Monday. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the Mass, 9-10 AM Tuesday at the church.
