Donald Maurice Jensen's Obituary
On May 17, 2009, after seventy six wonderful years on earth, Donald Maurice Jensen passed gracefully from this life, at home in the company of loved ones. Donald was born August 29, 1932 in Racine, Wisconsin. He was the son of Maurice Jensen and Viola (Yerdon) Jensen. Don attended Muskegon High School, Muskegon Community College and graduated from Michigan State University as an Industrial Engineer. His wide-spanned engineering career included various positions such as Production Control and Engineering Manager, Director of Operations and Manufacturing, VP Operations & Engineering; at such companies as Brunswick, Anderson Pattern, Haworth, Hart & Cooley, Trendway, American Seating, Rose Johnson/La-Z-Boy, Nevers Industries; semi-retired as an engineering, manufacturing and operations consultant. Don taught manufacturing and engineering at Western Michigan University & Muskegon Community College. He loved coaching Little and Pony League Baseball, Bantam Football and has served as the President of the Mona Shores Boys Club. Don is lovingly remembered by his wife of nearly 55 years, Patricia (Smith) Jensen; his five children, Shar (Mark Pearson) Coulson of Chicago, Randy (Deborah) Jensen of Spring Lake, Rhonda (John) Gibbs Wescott of Norton Shores, Lauree (Bill) McKendry of Belmont and Don Jr. (Kate) Jensen of Muskegon; his 9 grandchildren, Dr. Jonci Jensen ND, Ian Jensen, Stephanie Gibbs, Cody McKendry, Dillon McKendry, Gabe Jensen, Gus Jensen, Julie Mazzarella, and Chris Wescott; his sister Betty Howard; his brother Frank (Carol) Jensen; his brother-in-law Eugene LeRoux; his many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Viola and his sisters Lenore Kieft and Marlene LeRoux. Don will be greatly missed by his family, friends, neighbors, his many business colleagues and students—all who meant the world to him. The Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, May 27 at 11:00am at The Walburn Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 1547 W. Sherman Blvd. 231-759-8565 with Pastor Jonathan Rager officiating. Visitation with the family will be 1 hour prior to the service, from 10-11AM. Memorial Contributions to Hackley VNS Hospice will be appreciated.
