Donald R. Hansen's Obituary
Mr. Donald R. Hansen, 85, passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2010 in Spring Lake. Born Aug. 12, 1924 to Martin and Leola (Vescelus) Hansen,he married the former Ethel Speck March 3, 1956 in Muskegon,and lived in the Muskegon area all his life. A veteran of the US Army during World War II, he had worked as a machinist at Brunswick Corporation,and retired as a Postal Clerk in 1986. Mr. Hansen was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the Danish Brotherhood and the VFW Post 3189. SURVIVORS include his children: Richard Hansen, Jeff (Barb) Hansen and Charmane (Michael) Mitchell all of Grand Rapids; Virginia (Thomas) Wickman of Puyallup, WA, Dona Hagen of NC, Carla (Thomas) Hanis of Cedar Creek Twp., Becky Diep of Spring Lake, and Bambi (Kurt) Smith of Montague; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel in 1988; grandchildren Kristin Hanis and Robbie O’Brien; and 2 brothers: Carl and Bob.. FUNERAL SERVICES for Mr. Hansen will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday at The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444, phone (231)-798-1100 with Rev. Fr. Norman Droski officiating and military rites provided by the Veterans of Foreign Wars. VISITATION will be at the funeral home from 12N-1:00 PM Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.
