Donald R. Hasper's Obituary
Mr. Donald R. Hasper, age 81, went to be with his Lord Thursday morning, April 30, 2009. He was born May 17, 1927 in Muskegon to John & Anne (Brondyke) Hasper where he resided for most of his life. Don was a WWII U.S. Army veteran having served in Germany. On June 8, 1951 he married the former Helen Hoeker and she preceded him in death on April 12, 2007. Don was a cost accountant for Norge. He then managed Ruddiman Terrace Housing for 20 years, prior to moving to Holland, MI with his wife, Helen, to manage the Blue Mill Inn for 10 years. They moved back to Muskegon 10 years ago. Don was a member of Unity Reformed Church and of its C.R.O.S.S. and “XYZ” Groups. Previously, he was a member of Bethany Christian Reformed Church and Holland Heights Christian Reformed Church where he served as Elder and Deacon. In his spare time, he loved fishing, puzzles, painting, watching the Detroit Tigers, camping and staying active in High School sports. SURVIVORS include 3 daughters, Marva (Daniel) Spitters of Muskegon, Luanne (Donald) Wolting of New Era and Jane (Gordon) Dornbos of North Muskegon; 5 grandchildren, Matthew and Angela Spitters, Pamela Wolting, Nicole and Jordon Dornbos; 1 brother, Gerard “Hap” (Marietta) Hasper of North Muskegon. Don was also preceded in death by 3 brothers and 1 sister. SERVICES will be 11 AM Monday, May 4, 2009, at Unity Reformed Church with the Rev. Kyle DeYoung officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Holland, MI. VISITATION with Don’s family will be 2-4 & 6-8PM Sunday at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey Street 231-798-1100. MEMORIAL GIFTS to Unity Reformed Church or Heartwood Hospice will be appreciated.
