Mrs. Donna L. Fongers' Obituary
Mrs. Donna L. Fongers, 83, passed away early Wednesday morning, February 14, 2018, in Muskegon. She was born June 10, 1934 to Jacob O. and Elizabeth (DeWall) Rop in Muskegon and was a lifelong resident. Donna had been a secretary at both Western Michigan Christian High School and Muskegon Christian School for 20 years before retiring. She was a member of Allen Avenue Christian Reformed Church, where she was part of Mary Martha. Donna was very devoted to her family, especially to her son Mike. On July 1, 1954 she married Robert “Bob” Fongers, and he preceded her in death on May 13, 2016. Survivors include 5 children: Thom (Mary Beth) Fongers, Sue (Jim) Secord, Mary (Jim) Dobb, Mike Fongers, Scott (Lynn) Fongers; 11 grandchildren, Bryan Fongers, Andrea (Jeff) Wilkie, Kim (Mike) Krueger, Jenni (Eric) Timmer, Megan (Steve Lorenz) Secord, Matt Dobb, Jake Dobb, Luke Dobb, Leah Dobb, Kayleigh Fongers and Aaron Fongers; 7 great-grandchildren: Ashley, Ethan and Hunter Krueger, Sophie, Eli and Cecilia Timmer, and Skylar Wilkie. She was also preceded in death by her daughter: Nancy; and a sister: Barb Schermer; and her parents. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, February 19, at the Allen Avenue Christian Reformed Church, 695 Allen Ave., with Rev. Benjamin Oliveira officiating. Visitation with the family will be 1 hour prior to the service. Contributions in memory of Mrs. Fongers may be made to Christian Care, Western Michigan Christian High School, or Muskegon Christian School.
