Donna Jean Griffis' Obituary
Donna Jean Griffis, 67, passed away October 18th, 2021, in the hospital after a short illness. Donna was born February 19th, 1954, in Muskegon Michigan, to Kenneth and Audrey (Boden) Whipple. Donna spent much of her life gardening, and thoroughly enjoyed her job at Zelenka Nursery, where she made lifelong friends, up until her retirement in 2018. She was a very active member of the VFW auxiliary 7729, and served for 36 years. She held the position of treasurer for the past 30 years. Donna also loved baking, and not a holiday went by that didn’t find her delivering her treats to family and friends alike. She was the very definition of selfless and was always sending or delivering some sort of little gift.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents Kenneth and Audrey, her brother Daniel Whipple, and her son Robert (Bobby) Lewis Griffis. She is survived by her husband Robert Griffis, her daughter Darcy Jean (Victor L. Sr.) Robertson, her grandsons Zander Meyers, Brandon Glover, Victor L. Robertson II, and her great grandson Carter Glover. She is also survived by her brothers Kenneth Lee (Kelly) Whipple, Richard (Kathy) Whipple, Randall Whipple, and her sister Barbara (Lloyd) Jones. Donna also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, and will be greatly missed by all. Cremation has taken place and the VFW post 7729 will be hosting a celebration of life for Donna on Thursday, October 28th, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. The VFW is located at 6285 East Apple Avenue, Muskegon MI, 49442.
