Donna J. Norwood's Obituary
The Lord opened Donna Jean's eyes December 21, 1925 to her loving parents, Delbert and Gladys (Wells) Yeaw. The Lord peacefully closed them and took her to Heaven June 22, 2018. Donna lived her entire life in the Muskegon area, where she grew up on Turner Ave. Her eyes always sparkled when reminiscing about the days of her youth. She always referred to the people on the block as the "Turner Street Gang", and said it was like one big family. Donna was the last of the Yeaw family that lived there. Donna was married to Earl Norwood (deceased) in 1950, later to divorce in 1962. She began working at Banner Linen Laundry in 1962 and retired from there in 1989. She worked very hard, never missed work, and was able to buy her own home on a wage barely over the minimum. She devoted her life to raising her only child, didn't ask for anything, and wouldn't except welfare. But she was always willing to help others in need. Donna enjoyed embroidery, baking, puzzles, board games, playing cards, and having children around. But her big passion was bowling. After joining the Muskegon Eagles woman's auxiliary (aerie 668) in 1964, she league bowled until 2010, along with many city, state and Eagle tournaments over the years. Donna was an Eaglette for 54 yrs. Donna was baptized at First Baptist Church in Muskegon, and a participant in The Life Circles program in Muskegon for the last 8 years. Any memorial donations can be made to either the Church or Life Circles. Donna is survived by a son Curtis, special friends who were like grandchildren to her Brandon (Jennifer) and Jacob Hess of Edwardsville Ill, along with brother in-law Harold Frazier, sister in-law Cathy Yeaw, as well as many friends, nieces and nephews. Her parents and siblings all have preceded her in death, two sisters, Morna June Frazier (Harold), Virgina Harris (Clayton) and one brother Bernard (Cathy), also chocolate Labrador "MAXX'. A MEMORIAL SERVICE to remember Donna Jean will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 28, 2018 at the Sytsema Chapel, 737 E. Apple Ave. (231) 726-5210 with an hour of visitation prior to the service. There will be a get together to celebrate her life at the Muskegon Eagles after the Sytsema Funeral Home Memorial. Feel free to share a memory with the family at www.sytsemafh.com.
