Donna J. Bolt Meeusen's Obituary
Donna J. Bolt Meeusen, age 89, of Holland and formerly of Spring Lake passed away Monday, December 3, 2007, at Freedom Village in Holland. She was born April 22, 1918, in Muskegon to Dr. Arthur J. and Nicola (Edward) Bolt, and she married Andrew Meeusen on December 7, 1963, in St. Joseph, MI. He preceded her in death on April 16, 1986.
Donna graduated from Muskegon High School and the University of Michigan with a Master’s Degree in history. She worked at Cranbrook Private School in Bloomfield Hills prior to moving back to the West Michigan Lakeshore. Donna moved to the Tri-Cities area from Bloomfield Hills in 1952 and was employed as a trust officer for The Peoples Bank and Trust Co. until 1976. Donna started the trust department at the bank and was vice president of the department for many years. She was a member of Spring Lake Presbyterian Church, the Women’s Club, the Musical AAUW, and the Spring Lake Country Club. She was also a former member of the Salvation Army Advisory Board, the Hofma Trust Board, North Ottawa County Council on Aging, the Grand Haven Historical Society, North Ottawa Community Hospital Board, the Chamber of Commerce, and the Coast Guard Festival Board of Directors. Donna also started the Visiting Nurses Group, and she was a former president of the Grand Haven Area Community Foundation.
Survivors include a brother, Bob (Ruth) Bolt of Montrose, Colorado; a brother-in-law, Russell A. Lawrence; four nephews: John (Jenny) Bolt and their son Christopher Bolt, James (Laura) Lawrence, David Lawrence, and Sam (Julie) Lawrence; three nieces: Rheba Bolt, Caroline (Naz) Mwakamui, and Ellen Anje; a cousin, Don (Ruth) Edward; and many Meeusen grandchildren. Donna was preceded in death by a sister, Janet Lawrence.
The service for Donna will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 6, 2007, at the Lee Chapel of Lake Forest Cemetery in Grand Haven with Rev. Daniel Anderson officiating. Friends may meet the family 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, December 5, at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven. Interment will be in Lake Forest Cemetery.
