I just read about Donna's passing in tonights paper. As I read the obituary a rush of beautiful memories flooded my head. I was fortunate to spend many summer vacations and countless Holidays around the table celebrating as if I was a member of the family. I could probably write a book on the times, laughs, and games we shared at their home on Reynolds. The love, support and care that Donna and John always showed me and the way they treated me like a son is a memory I have always cherished deeply.
Donna was always a person who gave freely of herself and never expected anything in return. This was evident in the many times I was invited for dinner, and oh what a dinner she could make. Her only request was that I take her and John out to dinner after I graduated from college. I still use many of the recipes that she copied for me so many years ago. Donna was, in the truest sense of the word, a "Disciple", (teacher) because she taught and shared her many skills.
I will always know I was blessed by knowing Donna. There are not many "true gems" like she was and I am sure she is being rewarded handsomely right now in the Kingdom of Heaven for all the goodness that she spread.
John, Mark, Rick and Deb...my prayers are with you over your Mom's passing, but I know she is in a place full of the joy and love that she shared with so many.
Love you always Donna!
