My childhood memories were filled with my neighbors, the Kufta family (especially you, Corene, because we were close in age). So sorry for the loss of your beloved mom. I will always remember Ridge Ave with a smile and memories of your mother's warmth and caring personality...and those CREPES!
I will always remember Dorene. She was such a big presence in our Idlewild community. Her lovely and generous spirit made for happy times. She had so much wisdom and style, and she knew how to live life! She really did put on the best parties, and went all out, whether it was the Hawaii themed party at the cottage for the grown-ups, complete with canoe races and volcano or hosting a teen party for Corene. Remember the teen dance party! That was a big deal to us. Dorene loved having fun and just wanted all of us to have a good time. In my mind, I can hear her unique voice and wonderful laugh. I have so admired her independent spirit, fierce determination and positive outlook throughout her life even in her 90's. I remember her taking off for the casino, or deciding on the spur of the moment to drive back to Florida, alone! She was one of a kind, a truly impressive woman!

Grandma Dorene was an amazing woman with a fierce nature that could impress anyone. I loved how she always sang to our girls, laughed and kept going even in her nineties. She could not be held down. She was such a strong and independent woman and a wonderful example of how to live one's life to the fullest right up until the end. We will miss her so much on our visits to Sarasota and Muskegon. I'm so thankful to have had her in our lives. How fortunate she was to have spent her last days surrounded by her four children and their love for her. Love to you all, Trish

Dear Corene and family,
May her beautiful spirit lift us in this time of sorrow. It was an honor to have known her as a mother to one of my dearest friend Corene. She would light up a room with her presence. I mostly remember her generousity serving those fun healthy foods of hers. My first bean sprout peanut butter honey sandwich came from the house on Ridge. Still love them today!
