Mrs. Doris H. Ackershock's Obituary
Mrs. Doris H. Ackershock, age 85, passed away early Tuesday morning, May 1, 2012 at her home. She was born July 21, 1926 to Franz and Marie (Dorfner) Brunner in Braunau, Austria. During WWII she met her husband Dave while he was in the U.S. Army serving in Austria. She moved to the Muskegon area in 1949. Doris worked at Teledyne Continental Motors for 36 years, retiring as the Executive Assistant to the President in 1987. She was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Survivors include special friends Alan and Kathy Beachum; her honorary grandchildren, Chad (Julie) Beachum, Kristi Cooper along with Greg Cooper; 5 great-grandchildren who were the love of her life; 1 brother-in-law, Joseph (Cora) Akershoek; 1 sister-in-law, Donetta (Paul) Jager; and numerous nieces. Doris’ father and mother were killed in the concentration camps when she was 18 years old. Her husband Dave preceded her in death in 2009, and her daughter Linda in 1973. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Friday at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, with the Rev. Fr. Anthony M. Pelak presiding. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at Laketon Township Cemetery.
