Doris Arlene Borgman's Obituary
Doris Arlene Borgman age 94, of Ravenna, MI, died Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at Newaygo Compassion House in Fremont.Doris was born on August 22, 1927 in Moorland, MI to the late Peter and Myrth (Briggs) Zuidema. She married Clarence Raymond Borgman on April 2, 1949 in Moorland, MI. She was a graduate of Muskegon Heights High School in 1944. Doris was a Registered Nurse graduating from the Hackley School of Nursing in 1948 and receiving additional training at Cook County Hospital in Illinois. She worked at Hackley Hospital, then spent more than 37 years as a nurse at Ravenna Public Schools. She also worked with Visiting Nurses in Muskegon. She was honored with the title of Mother of the Year in Muskegon County in 1987.Doris will be greatly missed by her children Paul (Elizabeth) Borgman of Ravenna, Nancy Schwingler of Fremont, and Ruth Ann Hornacek of Brighton; her grandchildren Michael (Maureen) Hornacek, Paul (Autumn) Borgman, Sarah Borgman Smith, Wendy Hornacek, and Lee (Caitlyn) Schwingler; her great-grandchildren McKenna, Maddie, McGuire, and Tyler Hornacek, Kalvin and Kaden Borgman, and Timothy and Jacob Borgman-Smith; her siblings Herbert (Norma) Zuidema of Redding, CA, and Della Karel of Muskegon; her sisters-in-law Marilyn VanderLinde and Sandy Borgman of Muskegon; along with numerous nieces and nephews.Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clarence of 71 years, her sister Barbara Gilbert, and her brothers-in-law Richard Gilbert and Harry Karel.Funeral Services for Doris A. Borgman will be conducted on Monday, December 27, 2021 at 11:00am at the First Reformed Church in Ravenna with Pastor Steve VanderWoude & Pastor Don VanSlyke officiating.
