Doris Ann Cook's Obituary
Doris Ann Cook, age 90, passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at the American House in Spring Lake. She was born June 21, 1930 in Muskegon to Carl and Bertha (Stapel) Carlson and was a lifelong resident of the area. Doris married Raymond Richards and preceded her in death. She later married Franklin Cook and he preceded her in death. Prior to retirement in the late 1980’s, Doris worked 25 years as a social worker for the State of Michigan. She had previously worked at Bennett Pump and Brenneman Curtain Roll. Doris was a lifelong member of McGraft Memorial Congregational Church and had been active with the Muskegon Vikings. She enjoyed playing cards, especially a good game of Skipbo. Surviving are her 2 sons, Kurt (Sue) Richards of Norton Shores and Bryan (Mary) Richards of Grand Rapids; 10 grandchildren, Kimberly, Kelli (Brian), Matt (Danielle), Kristy (Andy), Jenn, Tony (Miranda), Kate (Mitch), Chris (Kendra), Jacey, Afton (Dan); and 14 great-grandchildren; and her loving nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Leonard Carlson. Public Visitation limited to 25 people at a time will be held 2-4 PM Sunday, February 14, 2021 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI 49444. Face coverings and social distancing will be required. A Private Funeral Service will be held with interment at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
