Mrs. Doris M Eckloff's Obituary
Doris Marie Eckloff was born to Melba and Harry Black in Chambersburg PA on November 13, 1934. She passed away on September 25, 2015 following a long illness. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Elmer D. Eckloff; daughter Debra Eckloff; son David (Pam) Eckloff; her precious kitty Annabell; and numerous friends, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; 5 brothers, J. Andrew, Maurice, Chester, Richard and John; 4 sisters, Virginia Ritter, Ruanna Black, Harriet Heckman, and Martha Crow. Doris loved rock hounding and traveling with Elmer. They spent trips going to the ruby mines in North Carolina, The Crater of Diamonds National Park, and the shores of Lake Superior to look for agates. She mostly loved family and time spent with her husband Elmer who was her constant companion. In earlier years, she enjoyed church activities. She sang in the choir and also became the regional president for the World Day of Prayer in the UP in the early 1970s. She was an excellent seamstress and was often employed for her skills, including 11 years at Gossard Artemis from 1964-1975. She moved to Muskegon in 1975 with the family. It was around this time that she developed disabling health problems that eventually lead to her passing. She was always a woman who said what she meant and meant what she said. She will be deeply missed. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will take place on Friday October 2, 2015 at 12 noon at The Sytsema Chapel 737 Apple Ave., 231-726-5210. VISITATION will be held 1 hour prior to the start of the service. Memorial contributions can be made to Christ Community Church.
