Doris J. Groeneveld's Obituary
Doris Jean Groeneveld, age 95, passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2020 at The Rochester Hills Manor. She was born on January 30, 1925 to Carl and Lillian (Randa) Hanzi in Harvey, Illinois; raised in Houghton, MI, and graduated from Houghton High School in 1942. On November 23, 1951, she married Andrew Groeneveld, and they spent 64 years together until his passing in January of 2015. After high school Doris went on to work for the Copper Range Mining Company for several years until moving to Muskegon where she worked as a secretary at Sealed Power for a few years until the children came. Doris was a happy homemaker and devoted her life to her family, she loved them and taught them all to have good character. She had a beautiful and pleasant character to all. She attended Mona Shores Baptist Church as well as Light of Christ Church in Rochester Hills. Doris enjoyed vacations, especially to Copper County in Upper Michigan; she loved her travels that took her throughout the world. Doris is survived by her children, Judith Kay (Ronald) Daggett of Rochester Hills, Michael C. Groeneveld of Alexandria, VA., Bruce James (Phyllis) Groeneveld of Muskegon and Carl R. (Peggy) Groeneveld of Houghton, MI; 8 grandchildren, Andy, Emily, and Dan Groeneveld, Joshua (Becky) Groeneveld, Tim (Kristi) Daggett, Sarah (Rob) Cucheran, and Paul Daggett; 6 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A MEMORIAL SERVICE for Doris will take place on Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at 2:00 PM at The Lee Chapel of The Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St. Norton Shores, MI 49444.
