Doris Mary Norbury's Obituary
Mrs. Doris M. Norbury, age 91, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2018 in Muskegon. She was born in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada on March 5, 1927 to Charles and Dorothy (Heximer) Thompson and moved to Michigan in 1951. Doris had worked as an Assistance Payment Worker for Department of Social Services for 25 years prior to her retirement in 1987. She was a member of Temple Methodist Church and FHA (Future Homemakers of America). Doris spent many years as a Girl Scout Leader and she enjoyed semi-classical music. On October 1, 1947, Doris married Arthur J. Norbury in Niagara Falls and he preceded her in death on April 24, 2009. She is survived by her children, Diane Norbury, Brian (Bari-Ellen) Norbury and Deborah (Michael) Clancy; four grandchildren, Brandon Norbury, Brent (Krista) Norbury, Bradley (Tonya) Norbury, and Jenny Clancy; seven great-grandchildren; and half-brother, David (Katherine) Thompson. In addition to her husband, Arthur, she was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Oscar Thompson. SERVICES will be 11:00 AM Saturday, April 28, 2018 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100. VISITATION will be from 6-8 PM Friday, April 27, 2018 at The Lee Chapel. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery. MEMORIALS in memory of Doris may be directed to American Diabetes Association or Alzheimer’s Association.
