Doris Rop's Obituary
Mrs. Doris Rop, age 92, of Spring Lake passed away Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at North Ottawa Community Hospital with her family at her side. She was born November 2, 1925 in Muskegon to Henry and Christina (Walker) Wiers. On October 13, 1978 she married John H. Rop and he preceded her in death in 2000.
Doris was a member of Spring Lake Christian Reformed Church and a former member of Eastmanville United Reformed Church. She taught Sunday School for many years and was also a member of the Women’s Circle and the Lydia Group. On June 1, 1985 she retired from SPX after 26 years. Doris enjoyed golfing, knitting and spending time with her family.
She is survived by three children: Judith Semeyn (Phillip) Weathers of Baldwin, Rev. Peter (Becky) Semeyn of Westmont, IL, and Steve Semeyn of Douglas, GA; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, James (Brigette) Siplon, and Gerald (Paula) Siplon. She is preceded in death by four sisters: Patricia Gamm, Mary Lou Schuler, Jane Pastor, Margaret (Elwin) Newville; two brothers, LaVern Wiers and Jack Wiers and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, July 7, 2018 at Spring Lake Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Jim VanderMeiden officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church. A private Interment will take place in Laketon Township Cemetery.
