Doris A. Mumper's Obituary
Mrs. Doris Mumper, age 86, passed away Thursday, July 8, 2004 at a local hospital. She was born August 18, 1917 in Muskegon to Rock and Helen (Stephenson) Blanchette and had lived most of her life in the Muskegon area. Doris had been employed for many years at Shaw Walker prior to her retirement. Earlier in her life she had worked at Continental Motors and the Norge Corporation. On June 29,1957, Doris married Charlie Mumper in Muskegon. He preceded her in death on July 18, 1989. Doris had run the cribbage tournaments at Johnson Hall Senior Center (Northside Seniors) for many years. She also enjoyed camping , bowling,beading,crafting, her doll collection, caring for her flowers, and spending time with her family. Doris is SURVIVED by her daughter Wanda Muriset of Montague; 2 sons, Raymond (Starr) Evans of Twin Lake and David (Candy) Evans of Alto, MI; her grandchildren, Deana (Harold) Olson, Bonnie (Robert) Gardner, Audra (Chuck) Woody, Cameron (Sandy) Reynolds, Chad (Deanna) Muriset, Marsha Reynolds, Mark (Julianne) Evans, Britt Evans, Tina (David) Taylor; 19 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Richard (Patricia) Blanchette of Twin Lake and Rock Blanchette Jr. of Muskegon; 3 sisters, Margie (Bill) Harbitz of Grand Blanc, Rosemary (Bernie) Kersting of N. Muskegon, Betty (Ron) Cooper of Shelby; 1 brother-in-law, John Economan; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 2 grandsons, Howard Evans in April 1990, and Christopher Reynolds in February 1998; a great granddaughter, Brenda Muriset in June 2000; a son-in-law, Thomas Muriset in 2001; a sister Nellie Jane Economan; and a brother, Edward Blanchette. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Monday, July 12, 2004 at Sytsema Funeral Home, 737 Apple Avenue, (231) 726-5210 with Pastor Eric Strattan officiating. INTERMENT will take place at Sunrise Memorial Gardens. VISITATION will be held 2-4 and 6-8 PM Sunday at the funeral home. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS may be made to the Northside Seniors.
