Doris C. Kriger's Obituary
Mrs. Doris C. Kriger, age 74, passed away Saturday evening, February 26, 2011. She was born November 18, 1936 in Lake Leelanau, MI to Rueben and Josephine (Chounard) Popp. Mrs. Kriger was a graduate of Muskegon Catholic Central. She worked for Meijer, Inc. in North Muskegon for 10 years before retiring. Prior to her employment at Meijer, she worked for Hackley Hospital for 18 years. Mrs. Kriger was an active member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Brunswick. She was an avid gardener and also enjoyed quilting. Mrs. Kriger was married to Richard Lein for 34 years before he preceded her in death. On October 10, 1999 she married Leo N. Kriger in Muskegon and he survives her along with her son, John (Claudia) Lein of Fruitport; daughter-in-law, Missy Lein of Grand Haven; 2 step-children, Robert (Lindsey) Kriger, Kathy (Don) Giddings both of Muskegon; 4 grandchildren, Kayleigh (Chad) Johnson, Laura, Phillip, and Noah Lein; 9 step-grandchildren, Patrick and Morgan Giddings, Jacob and Kaleb Kriger, Jeager and Braedon Beattie, Travis, Josh, and Kayla; 1 great-grandson, Brody Johnson; brother, Warren (Betty) Popp of Kalamazoo; 2 sisters, Marion (Stan) Sanford of Shelby, Donna (Richard) Mansfield of Grant; many nieces and nephews that loved her very much; special friends, Bernie and Willie Evans of Muskegon. She was also preceded in death by a son, Joseph Lein in 2009; 2 brothers, Bernard and Harold Popp; and a sister, Marva McCarthy. A MEMORIAL MASS will be celebrated 11:00 AM Friday at St. Michael Catholic Church in Brunswick with Fr. Roc Majalla, SAC presiding. PLEASE NOTE: there will be no 9 AM Mass Friday morning. Burial will take place in Norton Cemetery, Muskegon. MEMORIALS to Heartland Hospice will be appreciated.
