Doris Evelyn Knuth's Obituary
Doris Evelyn Knuth, age 92, of Grand Haven passed away Thursday, July 19, 2007, at her home. She was born January 15, 1915, in West Terre Haute, Indiana, to Charles and Fanny (Spink) Field, and she married Albert Knuth on August 24, 1935, in Grand Haven. He preceded her in death on December 20, 1992.
Doris was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, and she loved spending time with her family and friends. She was a great problem-solver, and she had a terrific sense of humor. Her hobbies included reading, gardening, sewing, and helping others. She was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Grand Haven where she served as Sunday School teacher and on various guilds and committees. She was an assistant Girl Scout leader, and she was a member of the Muskegon Better Hearing and Speech Association. She also worked as a Grand Haven election official and served as a judge for the Grand Haven Tribune cookbook.
Survivors include four daughters: Alberta Knuth of Grand Haven, Evelyn (Vince) Morford of Spring Lake, Alice Andersen of Elkhart, Indiana, and Charlene Knuth of LeRoy, MI; six grandchildren: V. Bruce (Denise) Morford of Oakley, CA, Charles (Lisa) Morford of Grand Haven, Timothy (Deb) Andersen of Deltona, FL, Ray Andersen of Rolling Prairie, IN, and Evelyn (Dennis) VanAlstine and Leonard (Margie) Andersen, both of Elkhart, IN; fifteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Albert; a son, Timothy F. Knuth; a great-grandson, Anthony T. Andersen; a sister, Eugenia Shepherd; a brother, H. Ray Hampton; and a son-in-law, Lincoln Andersen.
The service for Doris will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2007, at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Grand Haven with Rev. Henry Idema III, Ph.D. officiating. Friends may meet the family 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, July 23, at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven. Interment will be in Lake Forest Cemetery.
