Mrs. Dorothy "Dottie" Crider's Obituary
Our loving mother, Dorothy “Dottie” Crider, died peacefully on November 15, 2016 at the age of 97. Dottie was born August 29, 1919. Her parents, Guy and Ruth McClure preceded her in death. Dottie married Donald Alpha Crider on February 9, 1941 in Lima, Ohio, where they made their home until moving to Muskegon in 1964. He also preceded her in death. Their children survive them: Donald E. (Nancy) Crider, Beverly (Dick) Christensen, David (Susan) Crider, Gretchen Parks, Paul Crider, and John Crider; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; her loving sister, Dolores Basinger; many friends, and special friend Earl Kersting. Dottie especially loved dancing, and most Friday nights she would be dancing to the “rhythm of the band,” being particularly fond of Latin music. She also loved spending time with her family. A celebration of Dottie’s life will be Friday, November 18, at 11:00 AM at Laketon Bethel Church, 1568 W. Giles Rd., with Dr. Sherwin Brantsen officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at Laketon Township Cemetery. You may visit the family’s online guestbook at www.sytsemafh.com. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial gift to the endowment fund of Safe Harbor Christian Communities (Dottie’s grandson Scott is a resident of one of their homes) or the Muskegon Humane Society. Arrangements by The Sytsema Chapel, 737 Apple Ave. (231) 726-5210.
