Mrs. Dorothy R. Gilbert's Obituary
Mrs. Dorothy R. Gilbert, age 89, passed away early Tuesday, July 4, 2017 in Muskegon. She was born March 16, 1928 to J. Floyd and Helen (DeWolfe) Thompson in Wildwood, Missouri, and lived in the Muskegon area most of her life. Dorothy managed the cafeteria at Shaw Walker before retiring, and was a member of the Muskegon Garden Club. She was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, where she also volunteered in several areas. On June 26, 1948, she married Paul R. Gilbert, and he preceded her in death on July 20, 2014. Survivors include 2 children, Daniel (Alice) Gilbert of Ravenna, Annette (Rob) Cowan of NC; 6 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her father and mother. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, July 7, at 11:00 AM at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, Marian Chapel. Burial will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery. There will be no visitation, but the Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM Thursday evening, July 6, at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., (231) 798-1100.
