Mrs. Dorothy "Dottie" Plunkett's Obituary
Mrs. Dorothy (Dottie) I. Plunkett, 92, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday evening, June 19, 2018. She was born July 7, 1925 to William and Matilda (Ludwig) Gilmore in Muskegon and was a lifelong resident. Dottie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend who will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered. She loved spending time with her family, playing cards, sewing, crafts, and cooking for all! Dottie and her sisters consider themselves the original “Gilmore Girls.” She was part of the Lakeside Association and was a strong supporter of activities in the Lakeside area. She was past president and lifelong member of the VFW Local #3734 Polar Bear Women’s Auxiliary. On September 23, 1944 she married Michael E. Plunkett, and he preceded her in death on March 11, 2014. SURVIVORS include her children: William (Kim) Plunkett, Kathleen (Stan) Charron, Richard (Debi) Plunkett, Patricia (Richard Beadle) Plunkett, Elizabeth (Thomas) Jandt, Michael (Kim) Plunkett III, David (Cindy) Plunkett, Peggy (John) Nic; 20 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great-grandchildren; 3 sisters: Marion White, Maxine Moore, and Helen Hudson. She was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Kyle DeLong; daughter-in-law, Jayne Plunkett; and 3 brothers-in-law. A service celebrating and remembering Dorothy’s life will be held Monday, June 25th at 11:00 AM at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., (231) 798-1100. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service.
