Dorothy M. Stapel's Obituary
Dorothy M. Stapel, age 92, passed away Saturday, August 3, 2019 at Hillcrest Nursing Center. She was born in Muskegon on October 25, 1926 to Walter and Hattie (Williams) Huston and lived all her life in the area. She married LaVern F. Stapel in Muskegon on September 25, 1965. Dorothy worked 21 years as a cook for Doo Drop Inn Restaurant and retired in 1992. Dorothy and LaVern enjoyed traveling and camping. They also loved spending time at their cabin up north. Dorothy was an avid bingo player and enjoyed the time she spent at the casinos. Dorothy was a talented crafter and created many things out of plastic. She will be greatly missed. Survivors include her loving husband of 53 years, LaVern Stapel; her only living sister, Joyce (Joseph) Gomez of Missouri; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 sisters and 2 brothers. A Funeral Service will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, August 8, 2019 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI 49444 with Rev. John H. Brown officiating. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service, 12-1 PM Thurdsay. Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
