Dorothy Storey's Obituary
Dorothy Storey, age 92, passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2023. She was born May 9, 1930 in Melrose Park, IL to Peter and Rose (Mannoia) Scittine. On October 18, 1952, she married Winfred J. Storey in Traverse City, MI and he preceded her in death on December 12, 2011. Dorothy worked as a florist for Ray and Sharon’s Flowers. She worked over 30 years as a secretary for H & R Block and retired in 1994. Dorothy loved her time as a lunch lady for Reeths-Puffer Schools. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and was a very talented florist. Dorothy enjoyed her daily coffee group. She also enjoyed browsing antique malls and auctions with her husband. Survivors include her daughter, Cindy (Greg) Derscheid; her daughter-in-law, Jeanette Storey; 6 grandchildren, Chanel Storey, Camelia Storey, Erica (Darren) Gaskins, Lisa (Kent) Goulet, Stephanie (Ryan) Lott, Travis (Shannon) Derscheid; 10 great-grandchildren, Emeline, Creed, Cora, Allie, Caleb, Marshall, Sonora, Ivan, Conan, Marin; and her sister, Patricia Burbridge. She was preceded in death by her husband, Winfred Storey; her son, Donald Storey; her parents, Peter and Rose Scittine; 2 sisters, Marie and Rosie; and 2 brothers, Vincent and Andy. A Funeral Service will be held 2:00 PM Friday, April 7, 2023 at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 737 Apple Avenue, Muskegon, MI 49442, with Rev. Joe Kretoski officiating.
