Dorothy Teunis' Obituary
Mrs. Dorothy Teunis, age 88, of Ferrysburg passed away Sunday, April 29, 2018. She was born June 22, 1929 in Spring Lake to Albert and Elsie (Holtrop) Wezeman. On March 5, 1954 she married Marshall Teunis.
Dorothy was an active third generation charter member of Spring Lake Christian Reformed Church. She enjoyed outdoor actives, fishing, camping, gardening, traveling, and she loved music. Her faith was foremost in her life, but family was so very important to her and she will be missed by all who knew her. Dorothy’s gracious hospitality was enjoyed by her entire family, she especially focused on Sunday morning after church coffee times with a sweet treat.
She is survived by her husband, Marshall; five children: Brian (Denise) Teunis of Punta Gorda, FL, Rodney (Tina) Teunis of Spring Lake, Steven (Linda) Teunis of Spring Lake, Sue (Erv) Herrala of Muskegon, and Diana (John) Meyer of Grand Rapids; fourteen grandchildren: Jaclyn Teunis Yared, Jennifer Teunis, Jonathan (Ashley) Teunis, David Teunis, Randy Teunis, Andrew Teunis, Courtney (Rocky) Babcock, Jason Shank, Matthew McKay (Shamer Davis), Kevin McKay, Patrick McKay, Mark (Hannah) Langejans, Erin Meyer (Sandra Medinilla), Katie (Todd) Tester, Michelle (Jared) Vermeulen; as well as her sixteen great-grandchildren: Samuel and William Yared, Graham and Nolan Teunis, Micah Potts, Wyatt and Sage Langejans, Xavier, Theodore and Remi Meyer, Tillman, Elonica and Traeton Tester, Tenley, Teegan and Meyer Vermeulen. She is also survived by five siblings: Carolyn (Lee) Baas, Irene (Alan) Bishop, Pat (Ron) Kendzerski, Henry (Nancy) Wezeman, John Wezeman; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three siblings: Elinor (Bernie) Wiersma, Marilyn (Paul) Webster, Alvin Wezeman; sisters-in-law, Ann, and Willene Wezeman.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, May 3, 2018 at Spring Lake Christian Reformed Church with Rev. Steve Datema and Rev. Michael Westerveld officiating. Visitation will be 4-7 PM Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at The Spring Lake Chapel (213 E. Savidge St.). Interment will take place in Spring Lake Township Cemetery.
