Mrs. Dorothyea L. Shaffer's Obituary
Dorothyea (Carney) Shaffer, age 83, passed away December 31, 2015 under the loving care of her family. She was born January 27, 1932 in Muskegon, Michigan to Howard F. Carney and Lavinna F. Carney. She married Maurice Shaffer, Sr. on August 2, 1952, and he preceded her in death in 1990. Dorothyea is survived by five children; Maurice (Lori) Shaffer, Timothy (Susan) Shaffer, Michael (Lynn) Shaffer, Mary (Leo) Aguilera, and Anita Budzynski. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Kathy A. Shaffer, in 1998. Dorothyea is survived by two siblings; Jim (Susan) Carney and Kathleen (George) Briggs; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She graduated from Muskegon High School in 1950. Dorothyea was a member of First Wesleyan Church in Muskegon, Michigan, and was currently attending White Lake Wesleyan Church in Whitehall.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at the White Lake Wesleyan Church at 11:00 AM, with visitation from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. The funeral will be officiated by Rev. Thomas Coffey.
Contributions in memory of Mrs. Shaffer may be made to White Lake Wesleyan Church, Harbor Hospice, or the Muskegon County Library for the Blind and the Handicapped.
The family likes to think that mom is traveling the world in the company of the downtrodden and the unfortunate, and a whole lot of dogs.
