Dorothy L. Smith's Obituary
Mrs. Dorothy L. Smith, age 81 passed away early Saturday morning following a brief illness. Dorothy was born in Marne, MI on November 5, 1927 to Carl and Emma (Modrow) DeVowe. She came to Muskegon as a child and married, Mr. Robert S. Smith on November 2, 1963. He preceded her in death on September 22, 1997. Dorothy was employed as a lab technician at S.D. Warren for 36 years, retiring in 1987. She was a member of the S.D. Warren Lady Retirees, enjoyed the outdoors and was a devoted mother and grandmother. She is survived by: a daughter, Sharon Sokolowski of Newaygo; two sons, Randall (Patty) Smith of Muskegon and Richard (Debby) Smith of Muskegon; special friend and companion, Samuel Rice of Twin Lake; four step-children, Karen (Paul) Fessenden, Jeff Smith, Greg (Debbie) Smith and Tom (Lois) Smith; two sisters, Hazel Tollennar of San Diego and Shirley (John) Klimek of Muskegon; 10 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Ruth Ann and son, Robert Allen. The funeral service will be held: Thursday, 1:30 PM at, Oakcrest Church of God, 1540 Leonard St., Muskegon, Rev. Robert Rogers officiating. Visitation will be held at:
