Dorothy O. (Carlson) Wilhelm's Obituary
On the 1st day of September in the year of our Lord 2006, the soul of Dorothy (Carlson) Wilhelm joined her Saviour, her parents and her son in the joyful presence of God while her body remains with us on earth until the day of Resurrection. Dorothy was born of parents, William and Grace Olinger in Hoosick Falls, NY, on November 15, 1915. Her life was devoted to her children and her students. Dorothy graduated Summa Cum Laude in English/History from Slippery Rock College in Pennsylvania. She was a teacher in the Mercer County, PA Schools, and for many years, in the Muskegon Public School System. Passing to the next life before her were her parents, William and Grace Olinger, her sister, Grace Caldwell, her brother, Kingston, and her son, Richard Carlson. Left to mourn her passing is her daughter, Sandra Siegel of Sneedville, TN, and granddaughters, Erin DeWolfe, Michelle Reznor, Jodi Witham, Mary Carlson of Muskegon, great-granddaughter, Amber, and several nieces and nephews of the Caldwell family in New York State. To grieve for her, she leaves behind her husband of thirty years, Richard J. Wilhelm. Dorothy’s life can be summed up in a phrase, “love of life”. Heaven will be perfect if there are children to love, animals to pet, and flowers to see and smell. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church on Wednesday, September 6, 2006 at 11:00 AM, with the Rev. Fr. Michael P. Olson presiding. ENTOMBMENT will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery. VISITATION with Dorothy’s family will be 5-8 PM Tuesday at the Sytsema Funeral Home
737 Appple Avenue, (231) 726-5210. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to Mass, 10-11 AM Wednesday at church. Memorial Contributions may be directed to Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church Memorial Fund. Sign the guest book on-line at www.sytsemafh.com
