Mrs. Dorothy "Polly" Kozal's Obituary
Mrs. Dorothy “Polly” Kozal, age 87, passed away Sunday, July 22, 2012 at the Poppen Residence of Harbor Hospice. She was born June 22, 1925 in Corsicana, TX, to George “Tom” and Bessie (Hargrove) Wilson and lived in the Muskegon area most of her life. On December 22, 1944, she married Charles A. Kozal in Starke, FL and he preceded her in death on May 8, 2005. She worked over 30 years as an Area Coordinator for TOPS, Inc. Polly was a long-time member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church where she was active in the choir and sang with the Alleluia Funeral Choir. She was past regent of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court #599 and was a member of the VFW #3437 Women’s Auxiliary. Polly was also involved with Muskegon Civic Opera, the Red Hat Society and volunteered for Mercy VNS Hospice. SURVIVORS include 3 children, Elizabeth “Betty” (John Stott) Kurtz of Roosevelt Park, William “Bill” Kozal of Norton Shores, Florence “Flo” (Jeff Glass) Predko of Norton Shores; daughter-in-law, Margaret Kozal of Roosevelt Park; 6 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Troy Wilson of San Antonio, TX, William Wilson of Honor, MI; and sister, Sue Marine of Muskegon. She was also preceded in death by her son, Charles A. Kozal, Jr. in 2009, her daughter, Debora Kozal in 2011, and her great-granddaughter, Charlie Avis VerHulst. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated 11:00 AM Thursday, July 26, 2012 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Michael P. Olson as celebrant. ENTOMBMENT will take place at St. Mary’s Mausoleum. VISITATION will be held 2-4 & 6-8 PM Wednesday at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey Street, (231) 798-1100. The Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 PM Wednesday evening. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the Mass, 10-11 AM Thursday at the church.
