Dorothy V. Carden's Obituary
Mrs. Dorothy V. Carden, age 80, died Saturday, June 17, 2006 in Muskegon. She was born in Muskegon on July 1, 1925 to Kyle and Blanche (Lake) Crain, and had resided here her entire life. Mrs. Carden was a member of First Baptist Church, and was the owner of Dot & Don’s Grocery Store for 40 years. On October 5, 1940, she married James D. Carden, and he preceded her in death on March 17, 1994. SURVIVIORS include, 3 daughters, Janet (George) Chandler of Fruitport, Jeanette (Robert) Foster, and Nancy (Thomas) Deephouse both of Muskegon; 10 grandchildren, Rick (Reta) Benham, Sr., Donald (Cindy) Benham, Cindy (Kevin) Persons, Camille Mitchell, Carmen (Todd) Flickenger, Candace (Matt) Saya, Clinton Rollins, Tina Hopkins, Tom (Jolynn) Deephouse, and Wendy Rockwell; 22 great grandchildren, 18 great great grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law, Mary Crain and Delores Crain; and special friends, Florence, Jane, Arlene, Dawn and Fern. Mrs. Carden was also preceded in death by her parents; long time companion, Therman Boucher; and 2 grandchildren. SERVICES will be 11 AM Wednesday at First Baptist Church (1070 Quarterline Rd.) with Rev. John H. Brown officiating. VISITATION with the family will be 2-4 & 6-8 PM Tuesday at Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc., 737 Apple Ave. 231-726-5210. Burial will take place in Sunrise Memorial Gardens. Memorial Contributions to Hackley VNS Hospice would be appreciated.
