Dottie Jeannine Meyers' Obituary
Dottie Jeannine Meyers, age 77, of Spring Lake went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus who she loved since she was a small girl. Dottie passed away Friday, January 15, 2010, at her home. She was born March 3, 1932, in Montague, MI, to Ralph and Sarah (Rector) Howell, and she married Phillip Meyers on May 28, 1949, in Grand Rapids.
Dottie graduated from Fruitport High School and was involved in and enjoyed so many activities. She enjoyed worship, riding bicycles, sewing, knitting, swimming, walking, music, flowers, homemaking, baking, cooking, canning, and boating. She was involved as a Sunday school teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher, Sunday nursery attendant, Ladies Bible Study leader/teacher, and church kitchen helper. Dottie volunteered for International Aid (rolled bandages) and volunteered knitting quilts and blankets for International Global Charities. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Dottie is survived by her loving husband, Phillip; 5 daughters: Jacquelyn (Tony) Yore of Spring Lake, Jill (Doug) Wall of Grand Haven, Ginger (Jerry) Brege and Jeannine (Rick) Behm, both of Spring Lake, and Janice (Rich) Ferguson of Fruitport; 1 son, Jacob (Nancy) Meyers of Spring Lake; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters: Sarah (Bill) Snider of Blanchard, MI, Mary (Isaac) Lazarus of Crystal, MI, and Jennie (Don) Moody of Stanton, MI; 2 brothers, Harold Howell of Hudsonville, and Daniel (Sandee) Howell of Sparta; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Jane; 3 grandsons: Joshua, Cody, and Eric; a brother, John Howell; and sister-in-law Marilyn Howell.
The service for Dottie will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 18, 2010, at the Spring Lake Wesleyan Church with Rev. David Horne officiating. Friends may meet the family 2 hours prior to the service at church from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Interment will be in Spring Lake Cemetery.
